The Credit Note section in the Fees Ledger is a mirror image of the Bills section. There are two options for raising them which we will go over below.
Using this Feature
You can access the Credit Note section by clicking into the Fees Ledger module in Drive and selecting Credit Notes. From here you can view all the credit notes on the database.
The View dropdown gives you the option to view the current year, the previous year, or all transactions.
There is also an option for the Credit Note Backing Report with the button.
You can raise a new Credit Note be clicking on the icon, using File – New, or right-click and New in the section. It will bring up the below screen which is a mirror of the Bill screen. Fill in all details and input your net amount and bill allocation.
Ensure you tick the box for Ignore WIP.
Enter your Credit Note No. (this may have been set to automatically input in your settings), Client, and Template before inputting your net amount and bill amount and hitting Save along the top. As with bills, your net amount needs to match your bill amount and nominal analysis – your WIP allocation needs to match you allocated – and your accrued profit and loss will need to match your recovery.
There is also an easier way to raise a credit note if you wish to skip a few steps. If you want to credit a full bill – click into the Bill section and highlight the relevant bill before right-clicking and selecting Mirror Credit Note as below.
You will be asked to confirm you wish to do this – select Yes.
It will open the credit note – ensure all relevant details and amounts are matching before hitting Save.
As with Bills, you can highlight these in Credit Notes to Print/Preview and edit before printing as well as emailing to clients.
